Loving Kindness & Meditation

Loving Kindness and meditation are beneficial practices that I believe will be continued practices I will perform. Acts of loving kindness and meditation lessens the grip of destructive thought patterns that we have. When love and kindness pours out of us it in turn chips away negative emotions, jealousy, pride, greed and intolerance that harbors in other people. Even if you are dealing with negative emotions, being loving towards another really does alleviate those bad thought patterns.

A simple act of loving kindness would be complementing someone or encouraging someone that you don't necessarily know.

Meditation is a way to control random clutter that fills our minds constantly. When meditation is practiced regularly you obtain inner peace, serenity and balance of the mind and its natural healing resources.
A form of  meditation that works for me is praying. Praying for me is an example of releasing my concerns over to  a higher power. The higher power for me is Jesus. I plan on continuing to use these techniques because of the results I feel within myself as I participate.

  1. Nada,

It seems so many of our classmates found benefit from the loving kindness exercises. I agree that we can still be loving towards others even when our feelings do not match up. I also agree that meditation helps us to control the clutter in our minds. I hope that you can continue to find clarity and love through your practices.

  2. Nada,

I think the simple act of kindness can go a long way especially with people we don't know that may be having a hard time in life. I agree that meditation being practiced regularly helps you find inner peace. I hope that you will continue using these practices. I know I am going to because they do help me de-stress.

  3. Nada,
I love that you said love and kindness "chips away negative emotions, jealousy, pride, greed and intolerance that harbors in other people." To me, that is a brilliant visual for those exercises. I like the idea of picturing chipping away at those negatives with love!
I am glad that you enjoyed these exercises and plan to continue practicing them!

  4. I never got into the loving kindness exercise but a lot of people have been talking about it so I think I'm going to have to give it another shot. It seems like a very good exercise to do in order to feel closer and explore those types of emotions in order to open ourselves up to more intense feelings. Meditation is something that I have been trying to implement everyday. Clutter is a nice way of putting it; my mind seems so out of control somedays and meditation really seems to get it under control. I have had the worst insomnia and meditation helps me to relax before bed time. I hope it stays effective for you :)
